HEARD ABOUT ESE?

Image
Have you heard about Ese?  Golden black Ese as we used to call her.  Her skin so beautiful that most people called her the goddess of the black race.  She went to papa Ijebu, who mixed pepper with lemon water, he added a little bit of carol white and a pinch of something which name, I can't recall. Suddenly the black in her skin vanished like magic, she was now "African snow white"  and she reigned in her head and her new found skin.  Ese was walking on the air, almost like her new skin gave her super powers.  Awhile later, there were cracks, itches, scratches and peelings... Her body was at war with itself.  Ese's skin changed colors more rapidly than a chameleon, no one could keep up. Then came the decay that went from her skin deep inside of her and in a flash, she was gone.   Ese died trying to be who she wasn't, she was so dissatisfied with being black in a black skin and I wonder why, what is so wrong with being black?

Follow Trends Wisely

I was recently struggling with a burning desire to follow a particular trend even though that trend did not really suit my person. Thank goodness I snapped out of it quickly but this was what I learned

1. We all have the urge to belong to something- Every human always want to belong to  something or to be seen as a part to something and very few take out time to really consider what they are getting into and the overall consequences.

2. Our thinking is wrong- We think that trends and our being part of it 'validates' us but the truth is we validate trends. It can't be what we don't make it be and it certainly has no power to control us or make us be what we don't want to be.

3. We are more powerful than we know- Everything we do in this life is all about choices and decisions and that is where our power lies. Nothing has the power to control us,we have the power through choices/decisions to control everything in our lives.

4. Not following every trend is a trend that very few people follow and it is the best trend out there because it helps you follow the right trend or not follow at all but in the end you are still you... the very best you can be.

Trends are not bad,I hope you didn't think I was implying that. If you must follow trend, pick the one that suits you and everything that makes you you. The last thing you want is to have a life time regret over a little moment of fun (following trends). I am Elizabeth Okojie, just writing my truth that may not necessarily be yours and it is absolutely okay to agree/disagree.

    2. If we truly find our kind then it will be "us"

  3. ..."Not following every trend is a trend that very few people follow". I like it because it speaks truth. Spaceman used to say "we don't follow trends, we create them". I guess creating your own trend isn't such a bad idea after all. Thanks Lizzy.

  4. Following trends have mislead a lot of people and would mislead more and more people. Until we tell ourselves the truth, we wouldn't get ourselves out of this trendy mess.

    1. Alot of bad trends have misled and are still misleading somany and people hardly know what they are getting into by following just about anything they see. Somethings are just not worth the stress and for me, most trends don't. Thanks for always being so awesome, I truly appreciate all you do.

  5. My trend is me. I'm to be imitate. Apostle Paul said be ye imitators of me as am a follow of Christ. People are to imitate us not the other way round. We are a role models. 2pet2:9 takes about be a Royal priest hood,Holy nation Chosen generation and Peculiar people. If you are all this people should copy you.
What applies to A does not apply to B. We all have our own style. Don't be crazy about trend. You are your own style/trend.
