HEARD ABOUT ESE?

Image
Have you heard about Ese?  Golden black Ese as we used to call her.  Her skin so beautiful that most people called her the goddess of the black race.  She went to papa Ijebu, who mixed pepper with lemon water, he added a little bit of carol white and a pinch of something which name, I can't recall. Suddenly the black in her skin vanished like magic, she was now "African snow white"  and she reigned in her head and her new found skin.  Ese was walking on the air, almost like her new skin gave her super powers.  Awhile later, there were cracks, itches, scratches and peelings... Her body was at war with itself.  Ese's skin changed colors more rapidly than a chameleon, no one could keep up. Then came the decay that went from her skin deep inside of her and in a flash, she was gone.   Ese died trying to be who she wasn't, she was so dissatisfied with being black in a black skin and I wonder why, what is so wrong with being black?

CHANGES... (the scares and the hopes)

"Change is constant" I wouldn't be first person to say this, as this is the best way the world simply explains change but however, I will be discussing change from my own lens.
I like to think that change is the most constant thing in life and yet hardly joyfully welcomed by humans but in order to avoid exaggerating, I would rather say most humans.  What about this compulsory  phenomenon in life makes it most needed and yet very terrifying. It's almost like most of us are in this bitter sweet relationship with change but the question is why? I really don't have the answers as I myself I'm trying to understand my feelings in this "situationship" with change and very recently so.
Change is often favourably seen as a tool or a marker for growth or promotion but it's not 100% positive, hence, it either leads to our progression or retrogression and that's where the scare is. In a world where change is constant and a very important part of life, it's scary not to know whether the changes we make or the changes that happens to us, will change our lives for the best or the worst. The uncertainty and dynamics surrounding something as crucial as change is nerve-racking.
Fear and self doubt so often comes with changes and we all know neither fear nor self doubt is a luxury or component for success. There is always a raging war within you with the life you had and life you are reaching for, the stage you're in and the one you're climbing to and there is always the what "ifs". What if it's too late? What if I had done or said this earlier? What if this turns out bad? What if this ends up being what ruins me? So many "what ifs" that makes one wonder if it's even worth it.  Well, I think changes informs transformation and transformation invokes expectations. The scary part in this, is the not knowing what to except and not having the power to know how it ends.

LISTEN....
Change is really difficult to make because it involves transitioning from the known to the unknown but here is what I think, if the change you are about to make even as much  as gives you a sense of hope that you haven't had in a long while, please go for it. If the change scares you but allows you breathe after such a long time, go for it. If it gives you even an illusion of purpose and a little room to dream then go for it. Allow yourself be hopeful and dream in that moment and even though things may not turn out as planned, then you have already given yourself the chance to hope again.
I'm scared of change but for an opportunity to breathe freely again, at the slightest glance at hope and purpose, I will take my chances.  I will live in the moment and pray that God help my decision be the one I don't regret. Yes, don't ever forget the God factor in this matter. Before you make that decision and after you make it, pray because God's backing always makes the difference.
WHAT CHANGE ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
Well every major change that involves you making a decision. Changing jobs, businesses, locations, careers, cars or houses, friends etc you know what you want to change and if I didn't mention it please add it. Change scares you too? Well, pray about it and if you at all think there is a possibility of purpose and happiness when this change is made, then push the fear aside and make that decision now. What's the worst thing that can happen? Yah, there you have it. Cheers to dreams and hopes 🥂 Let's ride in this storm of uncertainty together, keeping our hopes up.  There's a possibility that things will turn out great in the end.
