MASKED part 1
It is not that I do not know how to fight. It is that the little demons I fight, grow up overnight and muster the strength to defeat me.
It is not that I do not speak but the people seated with me, do not listen to what I say. It's almost like my voice has no sound or my words simply makes no sense.
It's not that I do not try but failure is guaranteed even before I set out to try.
Writing is my safe place, so I write but people do not read anymore and those that try to, don't read between the lines and so they miss the message.
I do not come to you by chance and I won't leave by chance. I walked to this point I am right before your eyes. You're too blind to see and too occupied to notice but the time keeps ticking and my weary walk continues till it stops.
"Fight" they say but when does one win?
"Speak out" they say but who truly listens?
"Try" but how hard does one have to try before it's enough?
I do not plan to faint in this race of my becoming but if I do, please don't forget that like everyone else, I tried and I hoped for a time when I win.
Time is ticking, stop and see through the mask. Listen!!! Listen!!! Do you hear the ticks? There goes time, racing to the end.
Note: A good friend told me a story of how he worked his way to success and fame and how the people around him frustrated him the most, until he decided to ignore everyone and continue fighting his fight. That story inspired 'Masked" because too many people have been through hell but they hide behind smiles. He is also a writer but he is a Nollywood actor. Thanks for sharing your story, I'm glad I listened.
I do not plan to faint in this race of my becoming but if I do, please don't forget that like everyone else, I tried and I hoped for a time when I win.
